PURPOSE OF REPORT

To transmit to Council the recommendations arising from the Governance, Priorities and Finance Committee meeting of December 10, 2018 with respect to Bylaw 2/2019.

ALIGNMENT TO PRIORITIES IN COUNCIL’S STRATEGIC PLAN

Strategic Priority #3: Building a Transportation Network: Integrated transportation systems.

Administration Activity 3.6: Develop the Transportation Safety Plan and recommend implementation of initiatives to minimize risk of injury or fatality on City roadways.


ALIGNMENT TO COUNCIL DIRECTION OR MANDATORY STATUTORY PROVISION

On December 10, 2018 GPFC passed the following motions:

That the Governance, Priorities and Finance Committee recommend to Council:

1) That Bylaw 2/2019, being amendment 13 to Traffic Bylaw 18/2005, read a first time.

2) That Bylaw 2/2019 be read a second time.

3) That unanimous consent be given for consideration of third reading of Bylaw 2/2019.

4) That Bylaw 2/2019 be read a third and final time.

BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION

As per the December 10, 2018 Governance, Priorities and Finance Committee Agenda Report entitled “Transportation System Bylaw Amendments”.

NOTE: Sections 14 through 18 of proposed Amending Bylaw 2/2019 refer to deletion and replacement of several Schedules to the Traffic Bylaw: Schedules 1, 2, 5, 7 and 8.
