Bylaw 33/2017 - Land Use Bylaw Schedule C-Sign Regulations
Presented by: Chelsea Thompson, Development Officer

1. That the Public Hearing on Bylaw 33/2017 be closed.

2. That Bylaw 33/2017 be read a second time.

3. That Bylaw 33/2017 be read a third and final time.

The purpose of this report is to outline proposed amendments to Schedule C and Part 3 (Section 3.12 and 3.14) of Land Use Bylaw 9/2005.

On August 21, 2017, Council provided first reading to Bylaw 33/2017, with the understanding that the proposed Bylaw would be brought back to Council for consideration of second and third reading on September 5, 2017.

On August 21, 2017 Council passed the following motion(s):

That the proposed Schedule C.6(16), Sign Regulations of Bylaw 9/2005 be amended by deleting Section 16(d).

That Schedule C.6(12), Sections 12(a)(i) and 12(a)(ii) of Bylaw 9/2005 be amended by replacing "24" with "48".

As directed by the above-noted council motions, Administration has incorporated the requested amendments into the draft Schedule C document. In addition, Administration identifies the following for Council’s information:

1. That amending Schedule C, Section C.6(12)(a)(i) and (12)(a)(ii) of Land Use Bylaw 9/2005, by adjusting the permissible time frame for the display of election signs, will require that an amendment to Part 8, Section 53(4)(a)(i)(A) and (B) of Traffic Bylaw 18/2005 be undertaken to maintain consistency between the two bylaw documents; and

2. Based on the current meeting schedule, should third reading of this Bylaw not be completed at the September 5th, 2017 council meeting, then Bylaw 33/2017 may not be able to be enacted until after the Municipal General Election unless a special council meeting is called.

None at this time.
