1. That the Resolution titled “AUMA Resolution - State of Local Emergency”, provided as an attachment to the June 26, 2017 agenda report titled"AUMA Resolutions", be forwarded to AUMA for consideration at the 2017 AUMA Convention.

PURPOSE OF REPORT

This report is to provide draft AUMA resolutions for Council to consider submitting for vote at AUMA’s 2017 Convention, which will be held November 22-24, 2017 in Calgary, Alberta. Resolutions are due to AUMA by June 30, 2017.

COUNCIL DIRECTION

On April 24, 2017, Council passed the following motion:

CM-17-038
That Administration draft an AUMA resolution for Council approval that calls for AUMA to advocate to the Provincial Government to return to the pre-2011 wording of Section 21 of the Disaster Services Act.

On May 23, 2017, Council passed the following motion:

AR-17-299
That the City of St. Albert submit the AUMA Mayors’ Caucus RFD and Resolution, both entitled “Commitment to Formal Municipal Consultations on the Future of Provincial Revenue Sharing”, and both provided as attachments to the May 23, 2017 agenda report entitled "Provincial Revenue Consultation Advocacy", for consideration by AUMA members as advocacy direction for the AUMA to pursue.


BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION

On April 27, 2017, a memo was provided to council asking for AUMA resolution submissions by Monday, June 5, 2017. The deadline for 2017 resolutions to be submitted to AUMA is June 30, 2017.
