PURPOSE OF REPORT
Administration, through the support of a consultant, is about to embark on a comprehensive public engagement project to gather community input that will inform the development of a draft Municipal Naming policy. This presentation will provide Committee of the Whole with an overview of the engagement strategy and allow Committee of the Whole to ask questions.
This presentation is focused on the engagement process and not about any specific naming or renaming recommendations. Once the engagement is complete, a revised policy and process will be presented to Committee of the Whole for consideration. Any assets identified for possible renaming will be addressed should the revised policy be approved in 2023.

On December 9, 2021 Council passed the following motion:

That "Municipal Naming" be funded for $325,000 from the stabilization reserve to provide Council with an updated draft policy for future naming recommendations and to conduct comprehensive stakeholder and public engagement to gather community input to help Council determine if neighbourhoods and streets currently named after controversial historical figures should be renamed.

* Overview of the Engagement Strategy and timeline
