PURPOSE OF REPORT

To recommend that Council's agree to second the City of Airdrie's proposed 2022 Alberta Municipalities' resolution, as requested by the City of Airdrie.

BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION

At the May 16, 2022 City Council Meeting, St. Albert City Council sponsored three resolutions and seconded one resolution ahead of the May 31, 2022 deadline for resolutions for the 2022 Alberta Municipalities Convention. The City of Airdrie seconded all three resolutions sponsored by the City of St. Albert at their regular Council meeting the same day.

The City of Airdrie has approved the attached resolution, "Transportation Infrastructure Funding," which calls upon the Government of Alberta to establish a clear process to elevate and equitably fund municipal transportation infrastructure projects in alignment with the Building Forward Plan. This Plan is the Provincial Government's 20-Year Strategic Capital Planning document, released in Q4 2021 and is intended to provide a framework to guide Provincial decision-making regarding capital investments.
