REASON FOR TIME EXTENSION

pipikwan pêhtâkwan (formerly known as Gwin Communications) is an external consultant who specializes in elevating Indigenous voices. They were contracted to collaborate with local and regional Indigenous leadership in order to build a committee framework that could potentially provide ongoing guidance to St. Albert Council and Administration in our efforts to restore right relations. This draft committee framework was intended to be brought forward for Council's consideration in Q4 of 2021, although more time is required before this presentation can be made.

ALIGNMENT TO COUNCIL DIRECTION OR MANDATORY STATUTORY PROVISION

On July 5, 2021 AR-21-320 unanimously directed Administration as follows "That up to $100,000 in one-time funding be approved, from the Stabilization Fund, for emergent Indigenous needs".  The intention for $50,000 of these funds was for the purposes of developing the draft framework to be presented to Council.
