On August 30, 2021 Council passed the following motion:
AR-21-361 - That administration amend the budget calendar dates to move the budget presentation sessions to start after November 7, 2021 and bring back for council's approval by September 13, 2021 and adjust any other dates accordingly
From the Municipal Government Act:
242(1) Each council must adopt an operating budget for each calendar year.
BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION
The Business Plan and Budget Process is an integral part in dictating the direction of Council’s strategic goals, objectives, and priorities. The process provides departments the opportunity to examine and reassess their objectives and redirect resources to accomplish their goals.
The budget planning process requires Council consideration on several items throughout the year as detailed in attachment titled 2022 Council Budget Calendar. Typically, budgets are presented to Council annually in October/November and adopted by year-end.
In addition to the Council dates, there are 3 key areas where the city engages residents and stakeholders in the annual budget process?.

The City hosts an open engagement for all members of the public on our online platform. This is live for 3 weeks and Council can view the input in real time, although will also be provided with a summary report (via memo) by the end of the month.?
