PURPOSE OF REPORT

Due to a recent resignation, this report is brought forward to fill one vacancy on the Seniors' Advisory Committee.

ALIGNMENT TO COUNCIL DIRECTION OR MANDATORY STATUTORY PROVISION

Section 7 of the Seniors' Advisory Committee Bylaw 26/2018 provides that:

If a Member vacates his or her membership on the Committee during that Member’s term, Council may appoint a replacement Member to serve for the remainder of the vacating Member's Term.

BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION

In March 29 of 2021, Ms. D. Ellis submitted her resignation as a member of the Seniors' Advisory Committee.  This member had been appointed to the Committee effective January 1, 2021 for term ending December 31, 2022 and as a result of her resignation, an appointment of one new member to fill the remainder of the term of the vacating member, is brought forward for Council's consideration.

ALTERNATIVES AND IMPLICATIONS CONSIDERED

If Council chooses not to fill the vacancy on the Seniors' Advisory Committee, the Committee will consist of 7 public members.
