SUMMARY

City of St. Albert Administration is providing the attached document, “Briefing Note on 2026 Alberta Municipalities Resolutions” for Council’s information. The document is intended to support Council at the upcoming Alberta Municipalities Convention from September 23rd to 25th in Edmonton. 

ALIGNMENT TO COUNCIL DIRECTION OR MANDATORY STATUTORY PROVISION

On May 5, 2026, City Council approved the following motions: 
 
That the resolution entitled “Equitable Provincial Charitable Gaming Model”, provided as Attachment 1 to the May 5, 2026 agenda report entitled “2026 Alberta Municipalities Resolutions” be endorsed, and referred to the 2026 Alberta Municipalities Convention for Consideration. 
 
That Councillor Korotash be appointed as the Resolution Champion for the “Equitable Provincial Charitable Gaming Model” resolution for the 2026 Alberta Municipalities Convention. 
 
That the resolution entitled "Door-to-Door Solar Sales” provided as Attachment 2 to the May 5, 2026 agenda report entitled “2026 Alberta Municipalities Resolutions” be endorsed, and referred to the 2026 Alberta Municipalities Convention for Consideration 
 
That Councillor Clark be appointed as the Resolution Champion for the “Door-to-Door Sales” resolution for the 2026 Alberta Municipalities Convention. 

BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION

Alberta Municipalities (AB Munis) works on behalf of Alberta’s cities, towns, villages and summer villages to advocate to the Government of Alberta on matters of importance to its members.
