SUMMARY
This report discusses the proposed designation of municipally owned lands within the Sturgeon Heights neighbourhood. These land amendments are being undertaken as part of the Sturgeon Heights Reservoir and Pump Station Replacement and Decommissioning Project.
The purpose of this report is to provide information and rationale on the proposed changes, and recommended motions for Council's consideration. Bylaw 6/2026 can be found as attachment 1.
ALIGNMENT TO COUNCIL DIRECTION OR MANDATORY STATUTORY PROVISION
Previous Council Motion
On July 5, 2021, Council passed the following motions:
PH-21-015
1. That the Public Hearing on the Reserve Designation Removal at 53 and 81 Salisbury Avenue be closed.
2. That the Chief Administrative Officer or designate be directed to notify the Registrar of Land Titles that Council has complied with the requirements of Division 9 of Part 17 of the Municipal Government Act with respect to portions of Reserve lands legally described as Plan 5215MC, Block 9, Lots R1 and R2, shown on the map entitled Reserve Designation Removal (Attachment 3) and to request that the Registrar remove the reserve (R) designation from the said lands.
Municipal Reserve and Public Utility Lot are designations granted under the Municipal Government Act (MGA), for municipal lands that are typically used for parks, or municipal infrastructure, respectively.
