RECOMMENDED MOTIONS

recommendation

 

That William H. (Bill) Fletcher be appointed Chief Administrative Officer, effective June 13, 2022.

 

That from the effective date of his appointment Mr. Fletcher shall have all the powers, duties and responsibilities of a Chief Administrative Officer under any statute or regulation of the Province of Alberta and under any bylaw or Council Policy of the City of St. Albert.

PURPOSE OF REPORT

To present motions appointing Bill Fletcher as Chief Administrative Officer and vesting in him all powers, duties and responsibilities of a Chief Administrative Officer.

BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION

 

Section 206 of the Municipal Government Act requires every municipal council to appoint a Chief Administrative Officer. The previous Chief Administrative Officer, Kevin Scoble, tendered his resignation to Council effective December 31, 2021.   On December 20, 2021 Council appointed Deputy Chief Administrative Officer Kerry Hilts to the position of Chief Administrative Officer on an interim basis, effective January 1, 2022.  Since that time Council has gone through an extensive recruitment process and has selected Bill Fletcher as the successful candidate for the position of Chief Administrative Officer.
