PURPOSE OF REPORT
As per the recommendation and direction from November 13, 2018 Governance, Priorities and Finance Committee an amended Council Policy on Community Recognition is being brought to Council for consideration and approval.

COUNCIL DIRECTION
On November 13, 2018 The Governance, Priorities and Finance Committee passed the following motion:
That the Governance, Priorities and Finance Committee recommend to Council that the amended version of Council Policy C-CS-03 Community Recognition Program provided as an attachment to the November 13, 2018 agenda report entitled “Community Recognition Policy” be approved.
On January 15, 2018 Council passed the following motion:

That City Council Policy C-CS-03 Community Recognition Program be updated to include Environmental Leadership as a seventh category for Council approval in Q4 2018.
BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION
As part of their priorities for 2018, the Environmental Advisory Committee requested that Council direct Administration to amend Policy C-CS-03 in order to include Environmental Leadership as an additional separate category within the Community Recognition Program. Currently, the recognition for contributions within the area of environment fell under the category “Community Builder”. The proposed category would specifically acknowledge achievements in advancing natural and built environment.
