That Capital Project Charter ENG - 058 Neighbourhood Traffic Calming Strategies be reduced by $100,000 in 2021.

Administration’s Understanding of the Intent of the Motion:
Administration understands the intent of this motion (if passed) would be to reduce the budget of ENG-058: Neighbourhood Traffic Calming for the 2021 program by $100,000; from $613,000 to $513,000.
Operational or Organizational Impacts if Motion is Approved:
There are no substantial impacts operationally or organizationally if this motion is approved. The Capital Projects office and Transportation department, with support from Communications and input / review from other organizational departments, would carry out the program in the same process; albeit the scope (amount) of construction would be less.
Financial Implications of Motion:
This motion would un-commit $100,000 in capital dollars which could be used for other capital priorities or future projects at Council’s direction.
Stakeholder Consultations:
Public engagement has occurred with communities that have traffic calming being applied, as per the City’s Traffic Calming Policy / Process and the impact of this motion may be a notification to residents of the areas that work of upgrading current temporary sites of traffic calming measures to permanent may be delayed for one year (subject to 2022 budget approval). Should Administration receive requests for new traffic calming work, the ability to respond with requested site improvements may be impacted with a reduced budget; however, the program is intended to be delivered in the planned format, following a process and engagement which benefits from applying temporary measures and may minimize the impact of this motion.
