Is there an estimate on the RCMP contract billing adjustments related to vacant positions in 2025?

body

RESPONSE

The 2025/26 RCMP fiscal year (April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026) reconciliation will be provided to the Municipality in July of 2026. This reconciliation will confirm the actual number of RCMP officers that the municipality utilized.

Having said this, Administration is forecasting that the 2025 yearend expense for the RCMP contract will be $14,910,000, which is approximately $950,000 under the 2025 budget. In accordance with the RCMP Contract Expense Reserve, any unused funds will be used to top up the reserve to its maximum ceiling amount. Anything remaining after that goes towards the larger corporate year end net expense or surplus.
