SUMMARY
Council Policy C-IS-01 Snow and Ice control indicates that snow and ice control shall be managed within specified service level standards and priorities to provide motorists and pedestrians with roads, sidewalks and parking lots that are as safe as reasonably possible. Public Operations will present how this policy is operationalized, including the science and methodology used.

BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION
Public Works is responsible for snow and ice control on roadways, trails and sidewalks throughout the City, on public lands. The Snow and Ice Control policy outlines priorities and the associated service standards and expectations which are met using a variety of internal and contracted personnel and equipment. Different plowing and sanding techniques are utilized depending on the weather event and location and the methodology and associated challenges will be explained in a presentation.
