recommendation

That the 2025-2026 Council Meeting Schedule be amended by moving the February 11, 2026 Standing Committee of the Whole meeting to February 17, 2026, and by moving the February 17, 2026 Regular City Council meeting to February 24, 2026.

SUMMARY

The Council Strategic Planning Session takes place from February 9 to February 11, 2026. The February 11, 2026 Standing Committee of the Whole and February 17, 2026 Regular City Council meetings will need to be changed in order to accommodate the Strategic Planning Session.

ALIGNMENT TO COUNCIL DIRECTION OR MANDATORY STATUTORY PROVISION

Section 193(3) of the Municipal Government Act.

Section 9 of Procedure Bylaw 24/2022.

BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION

Following approval of the 2025-2026 Council Meeting Schedule (attached) on November 3, 2025, Administration was advised that the Council Strategic Planning Session will take place from February 9 to 11, 2026, rather than February 9 to 10, 2026. This creates a conflict with the February 11, 2026 Standing Committee of the Whole meeting. To accommodate the Strategic Planning Session, Administration recommends rescheduling the Standing Committee of the Whole meeting to February 17, 2026, and rescheduling the City Council meeting originally set for February 17, 2026 to February 24, 2026 (revised calendar attached). No other changes to the approved Council Calendar are proposed.
