Seniors’ Advisory Committee Spring Intake

SUMMARY
Administration met with the Seniors’ Advisory Committee (SAC) to gather their thoughts about moving the annual Civic Agency Intake for the Committee from Fall to Spring, in order to align with the Youth Advisory Committee. The SAC members prefer to maintain a Fall intake process. Administration is bringing forward the Committee’s feedback regarding this matter, for Council’s information.
ALIGNMENT TO COUNCIL DIRECTION OR MANDATORY STATUTORY PROVISION
This item went to the February 11, 2025, Standing Committee of the Whole where the Committee directed Administration to meet with the Seniors’ Advisory Committee to gather feedback.
BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION
At the March 19, 2025 SAC meeting, Administration heard that the majority of the Committee felt there was no advantage to change the intake from Fall to Spring. The Committee concluded that the Annual Intake for the Seniors’ Advisory Committee vacancies should remain in the Fall of each year.
STAKEHOLDER COMMUNICATIONS OR ENGAGEMENT
Administration met with the Seniors’ Advisory Committee to gather their input on the possibility of changing the Committee’s annual intake from Fall to Spring.
