recommendation

That the city acquires banners on Veterans Way that follow a Canadian and Canadian Military theme that are displayed when the Legion banners are not displayed, for a capital cost of $xxx, to be funded from the Stabilization Reserve.

Administration understands that if this motion passes, the City will design and procure banners to be displayed on Veterans Way when the Legion banners are not on display.

PURPOSE OF REPORT

The purpose of this report is to present a motion for which Councillor Hughes gave notice on July 14, 2026.

BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION

If approved, the banner will be designed by City staff with the final design being approved by the CAO. The approximate cost of this project is $3,800 for 25 banners. These banners will be replaced every 3 to 5 years, depending on wear.


IMPACTS OF RECOMMENDATION(S)


Financial:
If approved, $3,800 would be funded from the Stabilization Reserve which has sufficient funds. The replacement costs, every 3 to 5 years, for these banners will be incorporated into Communications and Public Affairs’ operating budget.
