BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION

FCM is a national-focused municipal association with 2,100 member municipalities across Canada, representing 92 per cent of all Canadians. The organization engages with the Federal Government on behalf of its members to advance the needs and priorities of municipalities in federal policies and programs.

FCM will be releasing more information on its advocacy and communications strategies based on the outcome of the April 28 Federal Election. Due to the timing of this in advance of the May 13 Standing Committee of the Whole meeting, City Administration will provide a verbal update to Council on the information released up to the date of this report.

Furthermore, Administration will provide an analysis of the proposed 2025 FCM Resolution Package once available. Approved resolutions form the basis for FCM’s advocacy efforts with the Federal Government.
